Cc: | Game: | Riven |
Description
- There is a graphics glitch in French, German, Polish, and Spanish localizations for this ending video. One or a few of the frames show noise in the four corners. This happens when Ghen puts the trap book down. See attached picture.
- The italian version doesn't play the first part with Cho.
Load save and enter trap book.

How do I extract the movie? I know the stack is ospit and one of the storeMovieOpcodes is the movie.

I attached a saved game for this particular trapbook ending (riven-022.rvn) in #10635, which was created from the English 5-CD version of Riven and contains the same glitch.
Are you running your own saved game or the one I uploaded?

You can use Riveal (http://www.rshayter.com/riveal/) to extract the datafiles.

Both the noise in the corners and the shortened Italian video has the same behavior as the movie assets.
However, the Italian video beginning part can be worked around by playing the first 12 secs of another localization of this video, say the engish version, since no language specific dialogue is said. Thoughts on that?
@macca8 riven25 uses the DVD version and saves from the CD and DVD are not compatible.

One of the other Italian endings has a beginning part with Cho that is similar to the missing part for this ending and it would probably be better to use the beginning part of this other Italian ending since it doesn't require localization switching.

I'm sorry but the suggested workaround seems way more complicated that what I'm willing to maintain for such an issue.
