Description
ScummVM: August 8
- Put all lifts on top of the well
- Take lift 1 down to 5.
- Take lift 2 up from 5 to 1.
- lift 4 is now on floor 5.
This is in the original.
So if you take lift1 to floor X then lift4 will also be there, but if you take lift2 top floor 1 then call lift1 from there, since you didn't ride in it lift1 to floor 1 from X, lift4 will still be at floor X.
I would prefer to have them not correlated, but I would really like to know if there is a good reason this is in the original.

According to the logic of the original game, Lift 2 has explicit logic in it (and I double-checked this) that whenever you change floors in Lift 2, Lift 4 automatically moves to the floor you departed from, even when the Lift 4 head is still broken. I too benefited from this.. my earlier movements in the lift during my last full playthrough had left it on the ground level.
I'm not going to change this, as this behaviour was obvoiusly intended to spice up the puzzle of figuring out what floor the lift is on. Indeed, it also explicitly updates the floor number in the channel display in the SGT stateroom TV, so it's fairly obvious that the intention was for lift 4 to move, and force the player to go to the original floor, find it missing, then have to go back to the SGT TV and find out what new floor it was on.
This behavior doesn't happen until you get 2nd class. You can use this trick to move lift4 before you have replaced his head.
