Description
Hello the whole of the ScummVM team,
I have a new challenge with the Japanese FM-TOWNS
version of the Return to Zork game.
It works under ScummVM, no problem ;
ScummVM detected it immediately!
But...
It seems that we have a collision here... the rtzcd.red file
has the same md5 of the first 5000 bytes and the same size
as the English CD v1.0 version.
It turns out there's three other rtzcd.dat files on the disc
(an rtzcd.dat is also in rtzcd.red).
One in the base directory, one in the "RTZFM"
directory and one in the "RTZ9821" directory.
Turns out the one in the base directory is for
DOS, RTZFM for FM-Towns and RTZ9821 for PC-98.
The three versions all show up with messed up text.
It seems to use the "KROM" file included on the disc for the font.
The dectection is incorrect :
Normally, it should read : Return to Zork (FM-TOWNS/Japanese)
My question is as follows :
How to add the correct detection in ScummVM dashboard ?
Can you help me, I don't really know.

It should be noted that previously reported detector MD5sums did not show collisions with the English version i.e. https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/blob/master/engines/made/detection.cpp#L320

Hello,
Thank you very much for giving me ScummVM, with the latest updates.
Unfortunately, that does not change the problem of detection.
I also tried with the old version 1.9.0 and it's the same.
This is a conflict which is not easy!

OK, that is unusual. Please can you run md5deep or http://md5summer.org/ over your CD datafiles and then attach the resulting file list to this bug as an attachment. That will enable the MADE engine developers to locate and identify the exact version you have.

OK, I try with md5summer.
We can also see, the header of the RTZCD.DAT file was ADVSYS.
AdvSys is a language for Writing Text Adventure Games ?
Please find enclosed the documents requested.
More others that can be used for a better for analysis.

Thpwg: You appear to have an unknown variant compared to other RTZ FM-Towns versions. Just to eliminate any corrupted datafiles, can you please try recopying from the original media and attach a scan of the original game CD or similar to allow us to identify the same version for sale?

I have a question: If I understand correctly, your version does not cause problems ? Is it only my game that is an abnormal variant?

I have no idea. I do not own any FM-Towns games and am not a MADE engine developer. Just bug triage.

OK, but in any case, please don't attach download links for games, unless freeware.
Apart from the issues noted in https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Copyright_FAQ , we have had quite a lot of invalid bug reports in the past due to users having corrupted or badly patched games which are available from various download sites.

Hello,
The identification problem is resolved.
For FM-TOWN,
Copy and past in the root folder this file RTZCD.DAT - 524 Ko (537 088 octets)
For PC-98,
Copy and past in the root folder this file RTZCD.DAT - 524 Ko (537 088 octets)
"Same name, but inside is not the same"
I have one last problem, I guess just to wrap up.
I'ts a Japanese fonts !
For FM-TOWN I have added in a game (FMT_FNT.ROM and KANJI.ROM) but is not working.
For PC-98 I have added in a game (sjis.fnt) but is not working.
I do not have the solution ??
After this, FM-TOWN & PC-98 I thing the versions will be supported by ScummVM.

Since the detection issues are solved, this can be closed.
The font issue is also reported here 11452

@Thpwg: This may be a regression in the fallback detector. Please try with v1.9.0 and see if you get the same behaviour? Also, if you can test with the latest daily build from here:
https://www.scummvm.org/downloads/scummvm-win32.exe
