the trash can is invisible in the Mercury Cinema location

Reported by: d0verenny Owned by: aquadran
Priority: normal Component: Engine: Stark
Version: Keywords: the longest journey, invisible trash can
Cc: d0verenny Game: The Longest Journey

Description

scummvm v 2.4.0git62-g36d395b2d1 (Sep 1 2021 05:16:42)

Language of the game: English
Version of the game: GOG, Build 142 lang update (24607 GOG)

OS info:
Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 20H2
Installed on ‎11/‎23/‎2020
OS build 19042.1165
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0

Bug Description:
When we get to the Mercury Cinema location, there is supposed to be a trash can between a sweeping dude and a man in a coat, right above the green Ooze on the ground. If we hover a mouse over the Ooze, we can still see the "Trash can" text box, and even interact with it, but the Trash Can itself is invisible.

STR:
1) Launch the game
2) Get to the Mercury cinema location
3) Look at the green Ooze on the ground not far from the sweeping dude. The trash can is supposed to be on top of it.

As a workaround, I see the trashcan if I change the "Game 3D Renderer" setting for the game to "OpenGL with shaders". If the setting is "OpenGL", I don't see the trashcan.

(Annoyingly, Grim Fandango seems to work better - at least for me - with the "OpenGL" renderer.)

Thanks, changing the renderer to OpenGL with Shaders worked for me!

I had something similar in Grim Fandango, it seems like OpenGL is the default though, there was no indication that I should be using "OpenGL With Shaders" (edit: actually it still happens sometimes even on OpenGL With Shaders, Manny was invisible, I'll file a separate bug)
