Hello! Thanks for reporting this. Can you tell us which version of KQ7 you're using? There are a lot. There's a "VERSION" text file in the game directory that contains the version number.

Could you also double check that you have all the game files from the original media? KQ7 is a popular game and what you're describing is that the game simply doesn't work at the start of chapter 3. If ScummVM really were so broken that it couldn't run chapter 3, you would think that we would have heard about it by now, so the odds are that something is wrong on your end. Sierra games have lots of files and if you haven't correctly copied all of them then weird things can happen. This could be a real bug! But I close a lot of tickets as invalid because it turns out not all the files are there, so I'd like to rule that out first.

Also, if your version is less than 2.00, I recommend that you get the latest version, because Sierra fixed many bugs since then and added the option to use plus and minus keys to adjust walking speed. (I can't believe players put up with that slow walk!) Some collection CDs from years later used very old versions of KQ7, adding to the confusion, and propagating old bugs.

Looking at the attached log files, I can see that this is version 2.00. Sorry, I should have figured that out right away.

But now that I've looked into the warnings in these log files, I see that they are about mismatched object sizes. That should never happen if all game files are present and valid. Those mismatches explain the reported lockups. In other words, I don't believe that this will turn out to be a ScummVM bug or a script bug in the game. I believe that we'll find incomplete or corrupted game files, save game files from one version being restored in another, or some other external problem.

I have valid 2.00 game files, and the attached saves work just fine without lockups.

Given that it's been two weeks with no response and that the evidence suggests a local problem on the part of the reporter, I'm closing this as invalid. iconius2000, please feel free to re-open this ticket if this is still an issue. But double check your files first. As the warnings report, things literally didn't add up on your end.
