Hello! I am certain that your game files are invalid or incomplete. Please try copying the original game files from a legitimate source again. You want the directory with RESOURCE.MAP, RESOURCE.001, etc.

Agreed with sluicebox. There seems to be only 1 version of Colonel's Bequest and it works fine. So either files directly copied from floppy, which won't really work. The game has to be installed, or file data is corrupt and/or a modified release.

I just wanted to geek out for a second and say Holy shit! It's THE Sluicebox!? What a fucking legend! Really, you guys are all legends here.
Anyways, just to further clarify, I'm completely new to using ScummVM to run my classics and have long used the SVN-daum distro of DosBox (with rather mixed success). I've always heard how good ScummVM is, so recently decided to give it a try.
As a result, I'm still quite new to everything and just realizing that most of these games have good wiki articles available that discuss adding them. I hadn't looked at that and I was attempting to run it off the vanilla DOS installion creates from the original images of the Sierra floppies.
So, I will do as suggested and run through the wiki and report back.
Thanks again for everything you guys do!

Wow, thanks! I have the same response every time m-kiewitz posts! =)
I'm sure you'll get it figured out; it's probably something basic. If you're still having trouble then please attach some screenshots to this ticket, and a directory listing of C:\SIERRA\CB\ will help too. The Unknown Game Variant screen should have a Copy To Clipboard button at the bottom to provide us more details.
There's only one DOS version of CB, and it's only packaged in two ways because of the two different floppy disk sizes. That's why we're so confident that C:\SIERRA\CB\ just doesn't contain the right files, or that they've been modified somehow.
Let us know how it goes, just don't ask for help with the fingerprints...

I'm sure this worked out =)
Hello,
Did you check and follow the instructions in our wiki page for the game here?
https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Laura_Bow:_The_Colonel%27s_Bequest
As written there, there might be additional work to be done with the floppy version of the games' files in order to work with ScummVM.
If you followed those steps and the issue persists, please clarify the version of ScummVM you're testing with and if it used to work with an older version of ScummVM but no longer works with the latest ScummVM release (2.8.1 as of yet).
