1.Digital version (From Steam, in the folder D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Broken Sword 2\Game)

  1. Not sure if it's in French or English. I believe French (when I start the game on Steam)
  2. no patch (but it might be the "remastered" version of Broken Sword 2 from Steam. Dunno if t matters to you)

This looks like an identical issue to:
https://bugs.scummvm.org/ticket/14562

That one was for the GOG version, but Steam version has the same behavior when ScummVM is pointed at the Remastered edition of Broken Sword 2 (unsupported by ScummVM as of yet) and not the classic one.

For the Steam version that same message appears when you point ScummVM to the "Game" subfolder of the folder where Steam installs the Broken Sword 2 Remastered game.

The classic edition of the game is offered for free on Steam, as DLC. When you install the game, the original game's data files will be in a subfolder named "Original". You need to point ScummVM to that folder.

Would be good to resolve this for the 2.9.0 release.

In e0158604:

SWORD2: Added Remastered engine to the detection and mark as unsupported. Bug #15324

Owner: set to sev-
Resolution: invalid
Status: newclosed

This is a remastered version and is not supported. It is built on a different engine.

I added this to the detection list with user-visible explanation.
