Does this problem still occur? FYI, it works great in the german version of Simon 2.

Is this a talkie version? Subtitles enabled/disabled? What OS are you using?

comment:4 by Kirben, 19 years ago

The problem still occurs in the French version and I was told it occured in the German version (In the past) too. When the red dot moves, the red trail of previous path is missing .The red trail of previous path, is only shown after the next segment of Simon riding on the Lion.

Using Simon the Sorcerer 2 Talkie (DOS version). Doesn't matter if subtitles are enabled or disabled. Using Windows XP.

Indeed -- I accidentally tried this with the english version of Simon2. Ooops, sorry!

Right now I am trying to get my german Simon2 to work.

It's very important to me that this bug will be fixed. Unfortunately, you set it down to priority 1. :( I could help you by telling you the exact file in the big SIMON2.GME archive and the two bytes that are responsible for that difference between English and Non-English version. Would that help?

Bit Flag 171 is used to display the red trail on map, during the Simon's ride to goblin camp. But But Flag 171 isn't set by the scripts of non-English versions, causing the glitches.

I added a work around for the problem, to ScummVM SVN.

Thanks for trying to fix it! The trail is displayed correctly now, but the text of the travell scene is now displayed with wrong text colours. Tell me if I should attach a screenshot.

Can you tell me where the part is that you've changed?

Adventure Soft. changed the colors of subtitles during this sequence, to give better effect in the Windows version. ScummVM matches the subtitles colors of the original Windows version of Simon the Sorcerer 2 exactly now.

It took some time until I could do this, but I've tested now several different versions of Simon the Sorcerer 2 with this map scene (both DOS and Windows if available).

Everything seems to work fine! The bug is now finally fixed. Thank you, Kirben! You're the best!
