Description
When I get to the point when you put in the second disc (I can't remember what chapter it is) it asks me for the second disc like normal, then two seconds later asks me for disc 1, when I put that in it asks me for disc 2, and then disc1, etc. I went and got a save that was later in the game and had the same problem. What's going on? I was using the latest stable version, and then tried the 0.7.0 newly updated one too, and had the same problem.

I've the same problem, but it's a little worse. That is, ScummVM still keeps busy my cdrom when asking to swap disks, so you have to login in another console (expecially if you're playing in fullscreen), and force an unmount in a ugly way (sometimes with umount -f, sometimes touching mtab, which isn't good).
I cannot play it from hard disk, since I've not enough disk space, and no, I cannot free some. Unfortunately, there are people who still live with 5gb hd... sigh. I feel this should be a bug to be worked on.
Just my 2c. :)

If you still have the problem with current builds, it would be very interesting to find out which files exactly are still open (i.e. which files we neglect to close) upon CD change. If you are on a unix-like system, that should be fairly easy to do (based on your comments regarding umount, I assume you are..)
You didn't state which OS you are using nor which precise version(s) of ScummVM, so it's hard to say much more

CD swapping is at best not very well tested and at worst completely unsupported. E.g. it may or may not work for COMI, but almost certainly not for Broken Sword II.
There is a section in the README about how to play these games from hard disk instead.
