Description
For some as yet unknown to me reason Loom CD now appears to show the dialog scenes from the disk/FM TOWNS versions ie the closeups when it shouldn't. This is most noticeable at mandible's tower.
Tested with a CVS build on OpenBSD/i386, save will be added after I give it another run through.

To cite kahlek: <khalek> you could probably cheat to see it early on <khalek> to drafts learn then unmake the loom at the start <khalek> chaos should show the portrait at some point

What's wrong with that? No one ever said Loom CD did away with *all* of the close-ups. Just most of them. It's been showing close-ups of Chaos for as long as I can remember, including one scene where it didn't in the original 16-colour version.

ok that was a bad example, but I think the scene with the bishop is wrong. I just don't have a save yet to double check.

I'm still not clear on which close-ups it shows that it shouldn't. Bobbin? Cobb? Mandible? Chaos? Bobbin and Mandible together?
(All I have at the moment is an old savegame where things work as they always did, but that's hardly conclusive.)

Bobbin and mandible was the one that I first took issue with, I will need to confirm this with an older version I think.

Do you mean the one like in http://bilder.tentakelvilla.de/loom/screens/loom060.gif ?
I don't know for sure whether or not that screenshot was made with the original interpreter or with ScummVM, of course, but from what I remember ScummVM has always shown that scene. In fact, I don't think that particular close-up is even present in the original EGA version.

So, has anybody actually confirmed there is something going on here?
Played through a few of my saves, and I didn't notice anything that I haven't seen before :P

Loom CD always shows these closeups:
Bobbin at the beginning
Mandible and the Glassmaker Crucible standing at the Sphere of Scrying
Mandible and Bobbin talking on the parapet
Chaos (both when he kills Mandible and when the Loom is unmade)
Having recently played the game with DOSbox, I can confirm this.
(Interestingly, besides the disk version closeups, there are also other closeups in the resource files, created especially for the CD, that aren't used either. For instance, there's one of Fleece and Bobbin in the hut. Also, there are two blurry ones, featuring Hetchel and Chaos, that are programmed to move very quickly; they were obviously meant as a primitive attempt at lip-syncing. But none of those show up in the actual gameplay.)

I don't have time to play through now but it is sounding ever more like I am wrong on this. closing
If you could be a bit more specific about what exactly is wrong, and how to reproduce it, then others could look into the problem, too (like me :-).
