#1907 closed defect

BS1: Broken scene

Reported by: SF/tobriand Owned by: lavosspawn
Priority: normal Component: Engine: Sword1
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Broken Sword 1

Description

Using the Sold Out version of Broken Sword (which I imagine is the normal one, but not certain), saving whilst on the telephone screen in the conversation between the main character and the journalist seems to work fine - in reality, however, any attempts to continue the conversation or to leave are met by her continuing to scribble on her notepad and the game hanging.

I've attached a save where this is occurring.

Evidently... and stupidly I saved over it too. However, this one seems to have it too - what seems to happen is Nicole (or presumably other characters, though haven't tested it with them) have a default non-talking animation, and that is defaulted to when you load the save. Thus when you try to continue the dialogue, it locks (since in that state the character can't speak!).

Anyway, hopefully the file is now attached...

To process your bug report appropriately, we need you to provide the following additional information:

* ScummVM version (PLEASE test the latest CVS/Daily build) * Bug details, including instructions on reproducing it * Language of game (English, German, ...) * Version of game (talkie, floppy, ...) * Platform and Compiler (Win32, Linux, MacOS, ...) * Attach a save game if possible * If this bug only occurred recently, please note the last version without the bug, and the first version including the bug. That way we can fix it quicker by looking at the changes made.

This should only take you a little time but will make it much easier for us to process your bug report in a way that satisfies both you and us.

Thank you for your support!

What is the status of this item?

comment:8 by eriktorbjorn, 19 years ago

Well, the attached savegame indeed does have a problem, that's for certain. A wild guess would be that the game is waiting for something that never happens, but I'm not familiar enough with the BS1 scripting to investigate it.

Sorry... was unable to respond in any real sense, simply because I was in another country as of about 5 days after originally posting it for 7 months with not such stunning net access, and certainly no way to check any details of what versions/etc. were. If anyone is still interested in fixing this niggle (and niggle it is and little more) then once I've moved to whichever the current ver is, I'll see if the bug is still occurring etc.. Now I'm back in the UK I can, and will, at least, respond lol

Sorry for being quiet,

Toby
