Crash with Ctrl-Q and ALSA driver

Reported by: SF/jellby Owned by:
Priority: normal Component: Engine: AGOS
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Simon the Sorcerer 2

Description

ScummVM 0.8.0CVS (Mar 21 2005 13:35:24) Features compiled in: Vorbis FLAC MP3 ALSA zLib MPEG2

I start simon 2 with the ALSA sound driver (fluidsynth as MIDI server), when I then press ctrl-q to quit, the game freezes and I have to "kill -9" scummvm. This doesn't happen with other sound drivers.

To process your bug report appropriately, we need you to provide the following additional information:

* ScummVM version (PLEASE test the latest CVS/Daily build) * Bug details, including instructions on reproducing it * Language of game (English, German, ...) * Version of game (talkie, floppy, ...) * Platform and Compiler (Win32, Linux, MacOS, ...) * Attach a save game if possible * If this bug only occurred recently, please note the last version without the bug, and the first version including the bug. That way we can fix it quicker by looking at the changes made.

This should only take you a little time but will make it much easier for us to process your bug report in a way that satisfies both you and us.

Thank you for your support!

I'm sorry for the lack of details, but now it seems to me it's unrelated to Simon2 and even to Scummvm (but it's strange it only happened with Simon2 yesterday).

After some more testing and getting the same behaviour from time to time, I'd say it's more related with alsa and soundcard configuration. I have a crappy soundcard that doesn't do hardware mixing, so I have to configure some kind of sharing. When I don't have it properly set *and* there is a conflict (as when using a fluidsynth and multi_midi) I get these hangs when exiting a game, it happens at least with monkey and monkey2 too.

I don't know if it's a problem of scummvm or what, but I'd say it's more likely my fault (and my soundcard's), although, if possible, scummvm should attempt more graceful "crashes" than just hanging.

In case it still matters, this is a laptop with an i810 (or somethin) card, Mandrake 10.1 installed.

Yes, it is obviously fault of your misconfigured system. Closing.
