Description
# ScummVM version: PalmOS 0.7.0 / 0.8.0 CVS test build # Platform: PalmOS
I was so sad to install scummvm on my lifedrive, just to find out it crashed bad. I managed to narrow the problem to TealScript. If TealScript is disabled, everything is as fine as it could be. If TealScript is enabled, tracing a graffiti stroke, intenionally or by mistake (writeanywhere enabled or not, or in the graffiti area) makes the device soft-reset, and upon restart, there's an error: "q pen, out of sync". Simple (and only) solution (?) is to uncheck "enable globally" in TealScript. I hope this will be fixed ;)

Yes, TealScript is some kind of hack and so, may crash,
don't (can't) know why, but I'm open. Just change the priority.
Let us know if you have feedback from TealPoint.

"What makes you think this is a bug iun ScummVM and not in TealScript? " On reset, the error is labelled as happening in ScummVM, not TS. The other thing is that SVM is the sole program to do that (and I try/use lots). But you're right that's too much of a quick conclusion from me.
"Have you filed a similar report with the TealScript developers already?" no I didn't, because of my above (and too fast) conclusion. I was using TS v3.76, I checked their changelog, and there was nothing remotely related, so at first I didn't bother to update to v3.82. Again, my mistake. then, later on, I tried blindly v3.82, just in case, and guess what, it seems to work. Sorry for the bother, somehow, I was too eager to help. Still, as a programmer, I think there might be something fishy behind the scene, since SVM is the very sole app to do this together with ScummVM...

TealScript is a hack. If anything in it breaks, the error will (almost?) always be attributed to the program that was running at that time, so it's "normal" that ScummVM is blamed, even if it was really TealScripts fault...
Also, it's not unusal that a hack works in most cases, and only breaks in certain special circumstances -- like running certain special programms. I haven't used a Palm for a long time, but I recally reading a lot about problems with TealScript and similar hacks in the past, so I'm not surprised there still are some....
Of course it is still possible that ScummVM is somehow at fault, but I think that's rather unlikely (esp. since things work fine with a newer TealScript version). It's more likely that ScummVM does some unusal things and TealScript got "confused" by that...
