GOB3: Sprite priority error in chessboard

Reported by: bluegr Owned by: DrMcCoy
Priority: normal Component: Engine: Gob
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Goblins 3

Description

Running Goblins 3 CD English under XP SP2 using the latest SVN

In the chessboard, at one point during the chess game you got to use the killer (were-blount) to threaten the king. During that animation the king, who is behind the killer, shows in front of him and his animation erases the killer chess piece.

I've attached a savegame where this occurs. Merely pick up the killer and place him on the blue square with the axe, between the dragon and the grim reaper. Then watch the king's animation

I'm not sure if this issue occurs in the original as well, it's been ages since I played it

Hmm, that happens with neither the English CD version, the floppy version nor with the Amiga one. May be a bug of the multi-lingual CD version, may be a bug in our GobEngine that only shows there. That bug is in your save now, too, because with it, the versions do that as well (even with the original executables).

Sorry I'm confused by your last sentence

"That bug is in your save now, too, because with it, the versions do that as well (even with the original executables)."

I don't understand what you mean here :( Do you mean that the ScummVM save games can be loaded from the original interpreters too?

If it helps, I've started playing the game when you started working on it, could it be a bug that you've already fixed and my save game is still affected somehow?

Normally, no. It is possible by taking bits out of the save and reconstructing a cat.inf, but it's hacky and I only do it for testing purposes. The reverse is not possible.

It looks like a save bug, may you reproduce it when you start the game over?

comment:9 by DrMcCoy, 17 years ago

Actually, I don't think it's a save bug, it's a bug that "infects" a save. I'd like a save from before entering that area/level though...
