Which music driver are you using? This is probably a volume issue, as none of us (nor any other tester) has ever noticed it. T7G does honour ScummVM's volume settings, via the Global Main Menu: I believe this is on ctrl-f5 now. Take a look at the volume settings there, and check they haven't been inadvertently adjusted. Then have a look at the windows mixer settings.

Adjust the midi gain setting, go to edit game, midi tab, check the override box and lower the midi gain value to something like 0.70. I had the same problem in Ubuntu using the fluidsynth midi driver.

I don't remember (and can't check at the moment) if The 7th Guest honors ScummVM's volume settings, but if you're using Windows MIDI for the music, there should be a volume setting for that in Windows XP itself. This isn't a bugfix, of course, but it could be used as a workaround.
