Managed to replicate this error with ScummVM 1.1.0pre48407 with 48413 local patch i.e. major valgrind errors corrected. This was in the same place with the same error, but running under valgrind. No additional memory errors were associated with the engine abort, so this problem will be in the engine scripts.

Okay, apparently I was premature. With the help of some hard-coding, I was still able to replicate the problem. Now that I can reliably replicate it, I can look into the problem furhter.
