unrecognized version of Jones In the Fast Lane CD with ScummVM 1.6.0 (May 27 2013 11:35:35) Game is not recognized, but starts as generic SCI game

Looks like a bad copy of the CD version. The MD5 checks match, but resource.001 is 1,652,062 bytes instead of 1,652,150

The disc is not damaged and the game is completable. There are no CRC errors when copying over the file to the hard drive. The Sierra Resource Viewer has no problems opening the game's resources. The correct size is listed in the console message, but the MD5 I get directly on my RESOURCE.001 is:

ADF3FF4989B2AFA6130B832D2E7E3BE4

The map file has the same MD5 as indicated in the console.

Hmm... Sounds like an unknown variant then.

Can you give the publisher, pressing id (the serial number around the centre circle of the CD), and other details from the disc to allow us to identify the exact release please?

collector9: Please could you also attach a text file to this bug containing a file listing of your Jones in the Fast Lane CD datafiles, preferably with file md5sums? The output of a tool such as this: http://md5summer.org or other tool from http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Reporting_unknown_MD5_checksums would be optimal.

I can then compare this to my copy...

Also, please indicate whether your CD is a DOS or Win3.1 variant?

There is no Win interpreter, it is DOS only. the pressing id is CDAC-0140500 4

It is published by Sierra. The labeling has:

How very strange... According to Mobygames, the 1991 DOS releases were Floppy only: http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/jones-in-the-fast-lane/release-info It wasn't until 1992 that CDROM variant was produced: http://www.mobygames.com/game/jones-in-the-fast-lane-cd-rom/release-info

You must have a relatively rare early release there...

The disc I have is a US release and looks a lot like this:

Except mine has no red and it has the Media Vision logo below the Jones character. Note that the copyright year on the Moby image has 1991, too.
