Description
A prototype of the US NES Maniac Mansion has recently surfaced. As far as I can tell, the game is entirely complete, but is the uncensored version that was submitted to Nintendo for approval. Its MD5 checksum is 2d7bff90f75caea93031f936cd4dc636, without iNES header. Since it should have no engine changes from the final release, might it be easily added to ScummVM?

I seem to recall that Frank Cifaldi (TheRedEye) of http://www.lostlevels.org/ was going to release this ROM image to the public (most likely with permission), though the copy I received from him has a different MD5sum than what you indicated.

The version I'm mentioning is that same ROM. ScummVM uses NES ROMs without the 16-byte iNES header emulaators use; if you strip the first 16 bytes, you'll probably have the same MD5sum.
I'm not sure if it is being released with permission or not, though.. Sev's right, I should have thought of that before bringing this up.

I'm well aware of the fact that ScummVM excludes the 16-byte header (after all, I'm the one that wrote the extract utility!), and I made certain that I scanned only the PRG data. In any event, this discussion is moot.
