Description
as seen on irc:
(19:51:58) andrea1: hi there; i have a small problem. it seems my cds for curse of monkey island are a bit too scatched afterall. however i checked in the forums and the only files that seem to be corrupted are those concerning sound (md5 sum). is there anyway to make "file not found"-errors non fatal? know scummvm pops up the debug console and kicks me out of the game, while the original game just continues( without sound of course)
(19:57:18) salty-horse: hmm (19:58:43) salty-horse: i think you should open a feature request

The music must be enabled in order to be able to complete sections of several SCUMM games, especially Sam & ax and Curse of Monkey Island. Sound must be enabled in order to complete almost all HE games too.
Closing as rejected, for reasons stated above.

sorry, didn't make myself clear enough.
i just want to disable the speech (voxdisk1.bun). this should not be required to syncronize with the movies or scenes. one could disable it anyway (option: subtitles only)

We used to allow users playing w/o the sound files. But IIRC, some parts of the game rely on syncing with the music, and those will not work w/o the music, making it impossible to complete the game (like during the pirate song at the start of Part III). Well, I am not 100% sure if that's true, maybe it *is* possible to get around that scene w/o music -- somebody who remembers should correct me, or maybe somebody is interested in changing our code back to find out whether that's the case or not :)
