Description
Win32 0.11.0svn Dec 21 2007
In most games, you can skip the current spoken line using "." (just re-checked with the same ScummVM version in BASS) - however in FOTAQ you achieve that pressing the Space bar.
For the sake of consistency the FOTAQ engine could be changed to additionally accept "."

nobody is complaining that FOTAQ uses F5 for saving :)
The original game used F1, ScummVM FOTAQ maps both F1 and F5 to it
From a user perspective I see nothing wrong with mapping a function to a previously unused key. Wouldn't change the space behavior from "skip line" to "pause" though.

The comma and period keys ("," and ".") are already used to select the previous/next verb during dialogs in FOTAQ... so I don't know how feasible it would be to skip dialogs with ".", unless the key behaves differently depending on the situation, or the keys are remapped (e.g. "," for selecting the previous dialog option, "/" for selecting the next and "." for skipping dialogs). Refer to /engines/queen/input.cpp lines 144-203

didn't know that "." is already assigned - in that case, feel free to close this item

I am torn on this one. Do we really want to try to uniy key commands between all games? So, do we also change "space" to mean "pause" everywhere? even if the original game used it for something different? In other words: Should we even attempt to try to be "consistent" between all games when they are not at all "consistent" to start with?
