#7640 closed feature request

Interpolation

Description

All the scalers do a good job at making the classics look fresh, but it's a bit too much for my taste. Is it possible to add simple interpolation to the graphics to round them off a bit?

What do you mean with "simple interpolation" ? It's not possible to act on such a vague request :-).

However, we already provide a wide range of scalers, and are unlikely to add more at this time, unless there are very good reasons.

It's a bit hard to explain as english is not my native language.

An exemple: The Super Nes emulator Zsnes have a graphics choice that is named interpolation. It smoothes out the graphics a bit to make it less "pixely". That's what I'm asking about. Sorry if it's vague.

But you are aware that we already offer several such scalers? Like HQ2x/3x, AdvMame2x/3x, 2xSai, SuperEagle, ... Did you try all of them?

Yes, I tried them all, and don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. It's just that the available scalers enhance the graphics a bit too much, so I was just hoping for a little more low-key scalers.

I guess he's referring to linear interpolation.

Sounds like scanline interpolation to me. Another guess? :)

The ZSNES documentation is pretty vague:

"Interpolation - Enable interpolation, a simple filter that smooths the image and makes it appear less pixellated. This is software-driven and can be accelerated with MMX support."

(The other filters mentioned by the documentation are "Bilinear Filter", "NTSC", "2xSaI", "Super Eagle", "Super 2xSaI", "HQ2X", "HQ3X", and "HQ4X".)

But ZSNES is written largely in assembly, so I'm not even going to hazard a guess to what it means.

Ola, could you be a bit more specific? I.e. provide exact shortcut, or quotation from ZSNES documentation, so we will understand what exactly you have in mind?
