SCI: Toggle Between MIDI/Digital SFX

Description

In many SCI0, SCI01, and SCI1 games there are digital sound effects used. In the original DOS interpreters, you could choose whether or not you wanted to play with the digital SFX or disable them for their MIDI equivalents (ADL.DRV & SNDBLAST.DRV, MT32.DRV and MTBLAST.DRV, etc). Some devs have stated that enabling "Mixed Adlib/MIDI Mode" achieves this. It does not.

Some examples of sound effects that have both digital and MIDI versions:

SQ3 - Roger landing on the ground after exiting the escape pod at the beginning KQ1 - The sound of the portcullis hitting the ground at the beginning of the game KQ1 - Graham landing on the ground after falling from a great height SQ1 - Sliding automatic doors of the Arcada

Some games have digital sound effects that don't have a MIDI equivalent like Roger falling off the catwalk to the escape pod in SQ1 or the "I'm melting" line when the acid drops hit him in the underground tunnels of Kerona in SQ1. I guess if this function were to be added a decision would have to be made about whether or not to silence digital sound effects that don't have a MIDI equivalent or, if possible, leave those ones enabled when MIDI SFX mode is active.

This is a fair issue, however, because a lot of digital sound effects were created with recordings from the MT-32 MIDI sound effects (SQ3 and SQ4 are good examples of this: the sounds of ships warping away or landing on a planet, Roger landing on his feet, etc). Seeing as these digital sound effects are of lower quality (mono and 22khz or something), it would be better for those of us that have real MT-32s to be able to use the MIDI sound effects for maximum quality if we so choose.

An earlier version of this feature request was submitted by musiclyinspired again, in FR #3103902. Pasting here from that FR:

"I don't know if it's been added to the tracker yet or not, I couldn't find it. I'd like to see a checkbox in the GUI to disable digital sound effects for playing the MIDI equivalents instead. Many (but not all, admittedly) of the digital sound effects in SCI games are merely low quality recordings of MT-32 sound effects which sound much better coming out of an actual MT-32 for the people who own one. Or it would just be nice if somebody wanted to listen to the Adlib MIDI equivalents in Adlib music mode. It's been suggested that one check the Mixed Adlib/MIDI checkbox in the MIDI tab but this does not work."

Sorry, I honestly completely forgot that I had added this before. At least this one is more descriptive and useful, though. :)

This is now a per-game option, i.e. you can toggle the sound effects for all the games that contain both versions of the same sample. Closing
