#8941 closed patch (wontfix)

Port to J2ME devices (unfinished)

Reported by: SF/simonkagstrom Owned by: csnover
Priority: normal Component: Ports
Version: Keywords:

Description

The attached patch is the early stages of a Cibyl (J2ME) port of ScummVM. It does not work yet and the port is mostly empty. I don't have time to work on this, but if someone would like to pick it up I'd be happy to help with Cibyl issues.

Ticket imported from: #2407058. Ticket imported from: patches/1046.

Thanks for your submission, but this is not a feature request, but a patch. Moving it to the appropriate section

Any progress with it?

Any progress with it? The code looks clean, so I would commit it if it was more complete.

Sorry, no. I'm busy with other stuff at the moment, so I've not been working on this for a while. My hope is that someone will see the patch and take the work up. :-)

Max, do you think we could commit it? The code perhaps will stay dead for some time, but otherwise it will easily rot.

comment:8 by fingolfin, 16 years ago

If we commit it, it'll rot in the repository. Is that better? On the negative side, people would see we commited this "J2ME" code and start theorizing about it, and bothering us with "when will you release it".

As long as there is nobody to take care of that code, I see little point in adding it.

Similar for the maemo port, BTW: It still seems to be a simple patch against 0.11.0 (!) stored in our repos. Where's the point in that, I wonder?

OK, I see your point and agree.

As of Maemo port, in the branch-0-13-0 it is a patch against 0.13.0.

The main reason for it is that it is a gross hack of keyboard remapping, Frantisek was waiting our keymapper to be in the mainline. I just dropped him an e-mail in that regard.

I think it is safe to say that if nobody has finished this J2ME port in 9 years, it’s not happening.
