I agree that it isn't an issue for the 2.0 release. It isn't really an issue if you did play this game already and know exactly what to do. But if you play this game for the first time or a long time a go and don't know exactly what to do it could be an annoying issue if your last save point is much earlier in the game.
There's at least one point in the game that this also happens. It's when Seeker forces opening the elevator door on the Rim wall and Quinn has to enable the switch for the elevator control room. When you don't use Quinn and switch to Seeker to open the control room door you also run in to this error.
I'm also going to add a savegame from the prior scene.

Added the savegame from the prior scene.
Is it possible to fix the save option from the game menu?
Clicking on the F5 in the game menu doesn't bring you to the save menu.

Interesting.. I double checked, and the original does allow you to switch characters and still work. Luckily, I think very few people would think to do so at that point of the endgame, so it shouldn't prove an issue for the 2.0 release. It'll likely take some annoyingly in depth analysis of the original executable to find out what's going wrong in ScummVM.
If possible, could you also attach a savegame from the prior scene? It may prove useful, just in case something has gone wrong during the room entry cutscene, and the savegame attached is already in an incorrect state
