Making of Myst Video no longer runs

The Making of Myst video (included in the original Myst game) was still working under stable release ScummVM 2.0.0. The latest ScummVM development versions and the updated GOG version still appear to detect the video. But the Making video no longer plays under these newer versions – they go straight into the game instead.

Versions : Original English PC CD (copied to hard disk), various GOG versions.

OS : Linux Mint 18.3 running 64-bit Windows version of ScummVM under Wine

The making of still works for me. Please make sure this is not a duplicate of #7097.

Thank you for your quick reply. I have looked at #7097, which indicates a number of problems – the one mentioned that is closest to my heart is where you have more than one target for the same game. I have a number of entries in my scummvm.ini for the various forms of the Myst game. I have experimented with this by removing all but 1 of the Myst folders (in turn) and removing all the Myst entries in the scummvm.ini except the Making Of one. I have then run the scummvm.ini using various builds of ScummVM. I can still only get the movie to run with the original CD version and with ScummVM 2.0.0. All development versions I have tried (up to 2.1.0git2765-gd516157 Jul 6 2108 05:38:58) run the game and not the movie.

Please could you tell me with what version of Myst and ScummVM you have got the movie to run?
Also, is the movie meant to run in the Masterpiece Edition (original or 25th Anniversary)?

That's rather curious as nothing has changed with regards to the making of Myst.

I'm using the French original Myst version. With that version, the game is detected in French and the making of in English (it was not translated). I have both detection entries in the configuration file and properly run both. With the English version I believe you have to move the making of files in a separate folder to get both entries running (that's bug #7097). The good news is that a proper fix for this issue is coming through this PR: ​https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/pull/1210.

The making of files are not present in the ME version of Myst (nor the 25th anniversary version). It's not possible to play the video in those versions.

This is fixed as of ScummVM 2.2.0git-653-g66dcf6b3d6. The Making of Myst targets in the launcher need to be removed and added again for proper behavior, though.
