#11864 new defect

STARK: April standing over void at Roper Klacks castle

Cc: Game: The Longest Journey

Description

Reported by darkbasic92 on IRC: At Roper Klacks castle, when using the second hourglass and going for the door, when entering the door there are two outcomes. You either stand properly on the platform, or you actually walk out diagonally into the "abyss", glitching the game. You cannot walk back on the path, but you can walk diagonally, literally standing over nothing, back to where you first enter the castle (the labyrinth).

The bug is still there. But it's resolvable. I played the GOG + modded version, so MAYBE this caused the bug. Please let me and the community know if it appears in the vanilla version too.

So, I did the following and PROBABLY this helped (or just the God of the Great Random):
1) Turn off (untick) the modded version in Edit game=>Engine Settings in ScummVM and click Ok.
2) Then load the savegame before you entered the buggy room*
3) Go to that buggy room - April should walk properly (she enters the room and goes one step to the left - or upstairs from the Player's perspective).
4) Saved the game and quit.
5) Turn on the modded version back again in the Engine settings
6) Load the savegame.
7) ????
8) Enjoy!

Also, I tried to load the savegame before the manipulations I did above. And when I walked into the buggy room again, she walked in properly again!

*I think you should load the savegame before you entered the buggy room, but maybe it'll work if you already encountered the bug. I DIDN'T TEST IT, but you can try: If you're in the buggy room, walk diagonally to the right-down corner of the screen. You'll appear in the main hall. Save the game there, and just try to enter the buggy room again. If that didn't help, try to restart the game loading the savegame you did. Again: I didn't test it. I had the savegame before the bug.

I just bumped into this with the Steam version of the game. I wasn't using any modded assets and I didn't even know such a thing was possible until a search brought me to this page. I was able to resolve the issue by unchecking the "load modded assets" checkbox in the engine settings, even though, like I said, there weren't any modded assets loaded in the first place.
