Description (last modified by )
This is the German Version of the game: Spider-Man: The Sinister Six. installed from the iso i made from my cd via win 3.11 in dosbox. after the install, i used the installed gamefiles and tried to add the game in scummvm.
The game in 'Spider-Man - Die Gnadenlosen Sechs\' seems to be an unknown game variant.
Please report the following data to the ScummVM team at https://bugs.scummvm.org/ along with the name of the game you tried to add and its version, language, etc.:
Matched game IDs for the hypno engine: sinistersix-es
{"MISSIONS.LIB", 0, "585704e26094cbaf14fbee90798e8d5d", 119945},
{"SPIDER.EXE", 0, "bac1d734f2606dbdd0816dfa7a5cf518", 248056},
But when i use the complete "SPIDER" folder directly from the cd without an install, scummvm is not recognize the game. a data.z file is not on the disc.

I Tried to install it only, because the game was not recognized as supported game from scummvm. Thats why i tried it with an install. And that also Happens what you wrote, not all files are copied from the CD. I Used the daily build from yesterday for the game.

Can you please provide a list of the files inside your CD? (you can copy the output of ls -R
if you are in Linux or MacOS).

(btw, you need to use the root of your CD for detection, and not the spider folder)

i tried to add the game direct from the cd. now it worked. never had to do it this way. i tried then only with the "SPIDER" folder again and with the file called "Setup1.Sax" and it worked also with the folder and this file only. it looks like, for the german version to add it to the game library, u need also the "Setup1.Sax" file. All other files that exist also on root of the cd were not needed and also didn't work to add the game to the library.

I checked the english Version of the game. The english Version has the data.z file. The german version not. But the german Version have the setup1.sax file which the english Version dont have. The only Thing both versions have in common is, those two file are the biggest ones on root of the CD. The data.z file, little less than 9mb, the german Version with the setup1.sax file little more than 9mb. So I think, perhaps those two files have the same purpose and perhaps this filename and the content of the german Version is differnt, because the german Version is cut if I remember correctly. And the needed files for the cut Content is in that file. I dont know what file of those two have the spanish one. I think it could be the data.z named one. And if its true, that the german Version is cut, perhaps the devs could make the german Version uncut.

Indeed, the setup1.sax file is part of the installer and contains the spider.exe file (which is kind of similar to data.z) but we don't need to have it to run the game since we reimplemented everything in scummvm (and there is nothing useful in the exe, except for a font, that we replace it). If you play the game with scummvm, you should get the same as the original one. If you find a missing video, sound or some other error, please open an issue so we can fix it.
Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the report!, but actually, you do not need to install the game to play it. Just detect it from the CD and it should work. If it fails there, then we can fix it. Playing it from the installed, should be possible, however, it is unclear if the game copied all the files from the CD during the installation (this could be done as a way to disallow people to install the game in several computers).
