Description
I had Monkey Island 3 working on my Acer iconia one tablet with scumm version 2.0.0 last played 2018. I send the files over to my phone scummvm Version 2.8.0 but i always Shows the message ScummVm could not find any game in the specified directory! Did you add this directory to the SAF? Press the help Button ? on the top for detailed instructions. I don't now what SAF means and can't find the explanation in the help.
I can't add the folder.

Is this bugs still valid?
follow-up: 6 comment:5 by , 3 days ago
Sorry, yes, this is still valid. I got distracted by live and forgot to answer. And to try again. Because a friend of mine wanted to play it on his tablet, i tested it on mine and it did not work either. My old tablet works fine, it isd from before 2016.
So my current device uses Android 8.1.0, Samsung Experience version 9.5. The tablet is a Samsung from 2016.

Hello, could you please clarify a few things:
- What version of ScummVM are you currently testing with?
- Is this an issue only with Curse of Monkey Island or is it with all other games as well (if you haven't tried with other titles, could you please test with a small game or a demo from the ScummVM site? )
- Are you able to confirm that there are no missing files from the data folder for this game? Maybe the files were not fully transferred on your Android device?
- Did you try following the instructions in the documentation to set up access to the games folders? https://docs.scummvm.org/en/latest/other_platforms/android.html#adding-games
Can you clarify what is the Android OS version on the device you're trying to play the game on?
The newer versions of Android (since 10 iirc) require to grant permission for an app to use a folder (and its subfolders) on external storage (which is basically anything outside the apps own folders). This permission is granted via Android's Storage Access Framework system (aka SAF).
The instructions should be shown on a popup when starting the app, and also available on a tab on the new Help system. But they can also be found online here:
