#15168 pending feature request (pending)

GOB: Goblins Quest 3 (Amiga) - Unneeded "Please insert disk 2" message

Reported by: gabberhead Owned by: BJNFNE
Priority: low Component: Engine: Gob
Version: Keywords: goblins3
Cc: Game: Goblins 3

Description (last modified by gabberhead)

after the manual copy prtection screen, instead of starting the game directly, there is a "please insert disk 2" message on the screen. you have to press the mouse button or any key, then the game continues to load. i have the german version of the game.
is it possible to fix that to start the game without pressing a key or mouse button, like in the dos version?

What is the behavior of the original AMIGA version of the game on the original hardware?

Were people able to fully install the game on the Amiga devices and, if so, did the game subsequently detect it was fully installed and skipped this disc prompt screen or was it still shown as it does when run via ScummVM?

If the behavior with ScummVM is the same as the original Amiga game, then fixing this to make it behave the same as the DOS version would be a quality of life fix (improvement). Thus, technically the ticket would not be a defect, but a feature request.

I personaly dont know the right behavior on the original Hardware. But I think, it was playable only via Floppy disk without the possibility to install it. But I am not sure. Perhaps, it was possible, if someone had also a hdd at this time on the a500. I personaly didnt had a hdd in the 90s on my a500. I Was playing the game, only via Floppy disks.
If it was only playable with the floppy disks, yes, then it would be a Feature request and not a deffect :) But one, which is only logical, if u play it via scummvm :)
If it would be a new Feature for the amiga version, then I think but
i am not sure, an easy one to implement into scummvm.

The game did not include an HD installer, so this is indeed more of a feature request than a bug.
You can check the Hall of Light as reference.

There are, of course, ways to install the game to HD such as WHDload (I don't know if the "insert disk 2" message is skipped in this case), but anyway that's not the original behavior.
