Description

Hi, I'm using ScummVM 0.10.0 and the italian CD version of Goblins 3. In the queen level queen in which you return after visiting the king there's a sprite glitch : if you use Flubert with the yellow pole (by the way, this action is achievable only after using axe with pot, if you don't perform that action Flubert will stay still if you click on the pole, perhaps it's another bug?), pick Blount and use the axe with the skull, the Blount were-wolf sprite will double; if you click on th invisible axe on the floor the 2nd sprite will disappear.

Possibly yet another bug in the same room: moving the cursor in the left corner of the screen will highlight "invisible" glasses (an inventory item you've already picked up and used)

Re-opening this ticket, since the original was closed due to a timeout for feedback, but I think it should be properly resolved (even if we decide that it won't be fixed).

These are my current findings:
With ScummVM 2.9.0git (current build from master HEAD), Windows, with Goblins 3 CD, English, all four bugs reported on the original ticket persist. However, all four are also original game bugs.

To clarify (and summarize) the 4 bugs are:

  1. The "Spectacles" hotspot, on the shelf thing to the top left, remains after the spectacles fall safely down --and after picking them up from the ground. It persists even after leaving the Queen room and going to the King's room and returning back.
  2. If Blount visits the King's room, gets the axe from the first guard and returns to the Queen's room, throwing the axe at the skull ("cup and ball") results in the axe falling to the ground and disappearing (though the hotspot itself remains and the invisible axe can be picked up).
  3. In the same process (throw axe at skull), after the throw, if Blount is moved, a frame of Blount remains back still on the chair. The rogue frame goes away if Blount picks up the invisible axe (see bug number 2)
  4. In the same situation (after returning from the King's room with the axe), Fulbert (the snake) refuses to climb the candleholder (clicking on it moves Fulbert close to it, but he stands there performing no action). As noted in the original report, Fulbert will be able to climb the candleholder again, after Blount uses the axe with the pot.

Since these are original bugs, it's up to any engine developer/maintainer whether they should be fixed or not.

I am attaching more save games from ScummVM 2.9.0git and the two files (IMA.INF, CAT.INF) that contain all my (current) progress up to the Queen's level from DosBox.

attachment:gob3-cd.s21 "Queen-left" is just before an attempt to get the spectacles from the shelf on the left.

  • Walk fulbert (the snake) through the door to the right (which will teleport him to the door on the left
  • Move were-Blount a bit to the left
  • Choose Fulbert and climb on the "a colonade" to make him climb the pole and release the spectacles from the box
  • Move were-Blount below the spectacles while they are on air, and he'll start juggling them.
  • Move Fulbert back through the door on the left (he'll teleport to the door on the right) and then on the "flagstone" hotspot to safely catch the "spectacles".
  • At this point there will be two "spectacles" hotspots. The valid one on the floor (they can be picked up by were-Blount) and the rogue / bugged one on the shelf.

attachment:gob3-cd.s25 "Queen-Ax-1" is after returning from King's room (just getting the axe and plates from the King and returning -- not talking to Wynona or doing anything else). It's for testing the invisible axe, Fulbert refusing to climb the candleholder, and the double sprite for were-Blount.

  • Just use the axe with the "cup and ball" (skull near the top of the candleholder next to the Queen) for the invisible axe bug and the double were-Blount sprite bug.
  • Use Fulbert with that candleholder for the "Fulbert refuses to do anything with the candleholder" bug.

Report https://bugs.scummvm.org/ticket/6329 is also mentioning the exact same Spectacles bugs, which as noted above is an original game bug (and not a ScummVM GOB engine specific bug).

I'll mark that one as duplicate.
