Win32 0.3.1cvs (2002-12-04) English Full Talkie version
Early in the game, when Brink is digging out the tunnel opening, a cutscene plays where the ground crumbles and he falls down into a pit. Right after the cutscene completes it shows Brink digging up top again for about half a second (even as the next bit of dialog starts) and then it shows the bottom of the pit with the body like it's supposed to.
To reproduce the bug, load the provided save and use the shovel on the ground (on the right side of the screen).

A guess: newer games at some points make temporary save games, then play a cutscene, then load those temp save games.
Now, we have a general buglet that shows if you load a game during a movie: the "old" graphics (the one visible before the movie) are shown for a very brief moment before the load takes place. That is exactly what you describe. That bug is easy to trigger: run scummvm with The Dig. Now the intro movie plays. Load any game, and (incorrectly) see the shuttle for a split second.

Sadly I can't load the save game (something is broken in current CVS). I just commited a fix for a similiar issue, and I wonder if it also fixes this bug...
