#652 closed defect (outdated)

DIG: Scrolling stops after long play

Reported by: SF/sixtoe Owned by: fingolfin
Priority: high Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: The Dig

Description

After playing The Dig all night on a nightshift, every now and again if you are in a screen that is wide enough to need to be scrolled as you walk across it, like the part where the spider traps Maggie, or the entrance from the top of that room. If you go out an available exit (if you can) and go round the long way (through the subway/light bridges) and back in from the other direction it usually works again, but just exiting and entering the room again doesnt usually work.

Funnily enough it never did it in the center/nexus or whatever its called.

This is the origonal UK version of THE DIG, copied onto my harddisk and run from there, using several different versions of Win32 scummvm including 0.3.0b and 1165K exe file, last update: December 26, 2002, 6:22 pm.

Attached is a save game that dumps you in the spider room where you cant get out to the right.

Does this still happen? I imagine a few memory leaks and memory corruption bugs has been fixed since then, and I didn't see any bugs like this when I played through the game a few days ago. Plenty of other glitches, but nothing like this.

Old savegames may still be broken though. (Most of my old savegames wouldn't even load so I threw them away.)

Can't reproduce this old bug. If anybody ever sees it again, feel free to reopen this or file a new bug report.
