#7079 closed defect (worksforme)

MIDI doesn't work (Dragon History, Linux).

Reported by: SF/gk967 Owned by: csnover
Priority: normal Component: Engine: Draci

Cc: Game: Dragon History

Description

Hi! :-)

Unfortunately, MIDI does not work on Dragon History, no mater what settings I tried (and I tried them all). Audio (sound) works OK. Only MIDI (music) is problematic. (No music at all).

I have the English (latest) version of the game. ScummVM v.1.8 x64 for Ubuntu LTS (trusty) systems (from download page). My system is Mint 17.3 x64 KDE.

Since I had this problem, I installed the Windows port (at Win10 x64) and it is working properly (so this report, is for the Linux port only).

Bye! :-) G.

What MIDI synthesizer do you use on Linux? Unlike Windows Linux does not feature any default synthesizer, thus if you did not configure one, you won't have any working MIDI synthesizer.

Timidity is definitelly broken here, so I tried both FluidSynth and ZynAddSubFX. It maybe an Ubuntu's bug after all (not of Scummvm).

Did you configure them correctly? Did you set a sound font etc. if necessary?

I believe yes (although I'm not an expert for sound stuf). Sound font from repositories and scummvm set to it. ZynAddSubFX suppose not to need any config. Seems to me like a distro error.

Since it looks like the OP is not able to receive updates since they don’t have a linked account in this new bug tracker, and this is a report based on an old version of ScummVM and old Ubuntu, I am going to close this ticket since the problem seems to be an OS bug and there’s no way to communicate back to retest. If this is a problem for anyone else, feel free to comment/reopen in the future.
