Description
Hi,
currently with SCUMM engine, there is the F5 menu that you can bring up, and the GMM that is accessible by Ctrl+F5. Both menus look very similar and have almost identical options. The differences I see as a user are that the F5 SCUMM engine specific menu has an "About" button which shows information about ScummVM as a whole IIRC and that is not there in the GMM. And the second difference is that in the GMM there is the "Return to launcher" button that is not in the SCUMM engine F5 menu. For a user these two menus are confusing IMHO. So I suggest merging these menus, meaning that the "About" button from the SCUMM engine specific F5 menu should be moved to the GMM, as it shows information about ScummVM as a whole anyway and removing the SCUMM engine specific menu, maybe if possible mapping F5 also to the GMM.

Hm, I think it wass too early in the day when i recognized what I thought I recognized. :-/ But then maybe the "Return to launcher" button could be added to the SCUMM-specific menu also? Or maybe a "subclass" of the GMM used with the help button added? Or maybe generally a help button in the GMM with information, provided by the specific engine and grayed out if the current engine doesn't provide such information? I still think two such menus that look really very similar but are not the same appear confusing for the average user.

The current F5 menu in SCUMM will eventually be removed (which amounts to "merging" it into the GMM). The main reason it is still there is the "Help" button. The GMM does not currently allow adding custom buttons; once somebody gets around to implementing that, we'll add the Help button in SCUMM, and then drop the SCUMM F5 menu (that is, remap F5 to Ctrl-F5).
So, this has already been on the TODO list. No idea when somebody will find time to do it, though.

Both have that "About" button actually, the difference is that the SCUMM specific menu has an "Help" dialog, which shows game specific hotkeys etc.
